Choosing a reliable provider: reviews, verification and a written agreement

Entrusting work to someone you do not know requires a bit of method. No investigation needed: a few reflexes are enough to rule out bad surprises and find the right person.

Read the reviews, but the right ones

A review is only worth something if it comes from a client who actually had the person work. On Helfa a provider can only be reviewed after an accepted and closed job, which removes courtesy reviews and score-settling. Look less at the average than at the content: a provider who calmly answered a criticism is often more reliable than a perfect profile without a single comment.

Be wary of profiles with only top marks left on the same day, and of those with no reviews who promise everything. A serious provider with three honest reviews is better than an unknown.

Check who you are dealing with

The “Verified” badge means we checked an identity document and keep the structured data, which allows us to answer a request from the authorities if something goes wrong. Confirmed email and phone are lighter but useful signals. For work inside your home, ask the person to bring an ID to the first appointment; a professional will not mind.

Ask the right questions

• How many times have you done this kind of work?
• What is included in the price, and what is not?
• What happens if the work takes longer than planned?
• Do you have liability insurance?

Vague answers are a signal. Someone who knows their trade quotes without hesitation and says clearly what they do not do.

Put things in writing

The job agreement signed on Helfa records the agreed price, the date, the description of the work and the identity of both parties. It is not a formality: in a dispute, it is the document that shows who committed to what. For a significant amount, add details: materials supplied, any deposit, what happens in case of the unexpected.

Pay, but not just any way

Never pay the full amount before the work starts. A reasonable deposit for materials is common, the balance is settled at the end. Pay in a traceable way, by bank transfer or TWINT, and keep a record. Helfa does not handle the payment: it is settled directly between you, with no commission, but that is also why the written record matters.

After the job

Leave an honest review. It protects the next clients and rewards good providers. A regularly reviewed provider climbs the ranking of the best in their canton, which brings them jobs: that is the virtuous circle we are aiming for.
